By the end of this workshop, you are officially #MadeInBenchLab and will know: 1) how to conduct personal defence skills practiced in ancient Bruneian Silat Arts, 2) the elements of a “Pendekar” mindset, and 3) how to demonstrate the “Tarikan Tenaga” technique in absorbing hard impacts on one’s body without feeling much pain.
BenchLab Talented Instructor: Guru Utama Ramlan Hj Lamit of Betawi Tiga and Major (R) Rusli Bujang of SANGGA Self-Defence System. You’ll be learning from two highly respected gurus of Silat in Brunei and beyond. Guru Utama Ramlan is the Founder of Silat Betawi Tiga and has masteredin the arts of Silat Kuntau Betawi, Silat Cakak Betawi and Silat Banteng Betawi over his 40 years of experience. He is the man you need in acquiring the skills of “Tarikan Tenaga”, which is also known as the “natural body armour”, so that the body is trained to take hard impacts without pain or sustaining any bruise or serious injuries. Correct training under his guidance is all it takes to achieve so -- no mantras, in case you are wondering. The senior member of PERSIB (Persatuan Pencak Silat Kebangsaan Brunei Darussalam, also known as Brunei Darussalam National Silat Association) has vast teaching experience in Brunei and beyond. Additionally, Sir Rusli Bujang is the Founder of SANGGA Self-Defence System since 2012. With more than 30 years of experience, he has earned Gold Medal in Brunei International Pencak Silat Championship (1988) and participated in World Pencak Silat Championship in Indonesia and Thailand. He has also conducted Silat Workshop in conjunction with the World Martial Arts Festival, Paris, France in 2017. These two professionals are definitely your go-to if you are interested in learning more about our rich Ancient Martial Arts heritage.
