Audio Engineering and Networking Workshop

  • Lily Jasmine Meeting Room, iCentre, Anggerek Desa Simpang 32-37 BSB, BB3713 Brunei (map)

Says who Bruneians can’t dream big? If you wish to produce music with a global impact, BenchLab is bringing you one step closer. Meet Bryant, a local talent who has made soundtracks for American films featuring Hilary Swank and Emmy Rossum — and you, too, can make it without owning a studio.

Workshop Date: Sunday, 27 January 2019
Duration: 3 hours (1pm-4pm)
Registration Deadline: 26 January 2019
Workshop Fee: BND 60
Venue: Lily Jasmine Meeting Room, iCentre, Anggerek Desa
Recommendation: Bring along your excitement and burning questions about audio engineering!

By the end of this workshop, you are officially #MadeInBenchLab and will know: 1) the basics of recording, 2) the do’s and the don’ts of recording a clean signal, 3) how to use the given effects that are available with the software such as equalizer, compressors, reverb, delay, 4) how to properly mix (rest) your instruments together so they are balanced and not clustering over each other, 5) the definition of sound waves, how it affects audio and visual representations of different sounds, 6) how to be creative with your mix and 7) how to make your songs stand out with Sound Effects and Samples.

BenchLab Talented Instructor: Bryant Leong of Surviving Monday. You’ll be learning from an audio engineer and musician who has been in the industry for over 10 years. Bryant has been working for various local corporate companies in producing music for advertisements and have written songs for American Artists and Films. One of his biggest achievements was making a soundtrack for an American film that starred Hillary Swank and Emmy Rossum. He recorded the music including the guitar and bass with Sensible Records, the United Kingdom in 2012. Bryant hopes to share with the Brunei community the skill on how to properly mix a track and making it more interesting.
